Androsterone Androsterone, classified as an anabolic androgenic steroid under the United States Designer Anabolic Steroid Control Act (DASCA), is prohibited from being included in dietary supplements. This natural steroid hormone is produced in the adrenal glands, ovaries, and testes, and is a metabolite of testosterone and androstenedione. It contributes to the development of secondary sexual characteristics in males and is present in trace amounts in the urine and sweat of both genders. Known for its mild androgenic properties, androsterone helps maintain masculine traits and libido.
