Genistein Combined Polysaccharide Overview

Genistein combined polysaccharide is a supplement that comes from soybeans and mushrooms. It has genistein, a plant chemical that acts like estrogen (i.e., a phytoestrogen), and polysaccharide, a kind of sugar that helps the immune system. Genistein combined polysaccharide is made by mixing soy extract with a group of mushrooms called basidiomycetes. People take genistein combined polysaccharide to prevent and treat different kinds of cancer, especially those that are affected by hormones, such as breast cancer, prostate cancer, and bladder cancer. Some research suggests that genistein may stop cancer cells from growing, kill them, cut off their blood supply, lower inflammation, and balance hormone levels but more research is needed to make sure genistein combined polysaccharide is safe and effective for different health problems.

Warfarin Overview

  • Warfarin is used to prevent blood clots from forming or growing larger in your blood and blood vessels. It is prescribed for people with certain types of irregular heartbeat, people with prosthetic (replacement or mechanical) heart valves, and people who have suffered a heart attack. Warfarin is also used to treat or prevent venous thrombosis (swelling and blood clot in a vein) and pulmonary embolism (a blood clot in the lung). Warfarin is in a class of medications called anticoagulants ('blood thinners'). It works by decreasing the clotting ability of the blood.
