Horsemint Horsemint (Monarda punctata) is a flowering plant species in the mint family, Lamiaceae. It is native to North America and is commonly found in prairies, fields, and along roadsides. The plant produces showy, pink or purple flowers in late summer and has a distinctive, aromatic scent that attracts bees and other pollinators. Horsemint is used in traditional medicine for its purported health benefits and is believed to help improve digestive and respiratory problems. It is also used as an antioxidant. It is important to note that Horsemint and English horsemint (Mentha longifolia) are two different species of plants.
