Doxazosin Mesylate falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Black Seed interacts with.

Theoretically, taking black seed with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Clinical research suggests that black seed powder and oil might reduce blood pressure by 2-3 mmHg. In animal research, black seed modestly reduces blood pressure and concomitant use of black seed and amlodipine (Norvasc) or metoprolol (Lopressor) increased the blood pressure lowering effects of these drugs.

Here's the short version: doxazosin already lowers your blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels, and black seed appears to nudge blood pressure down a little too (studies suggest only about 2 to 3 mmHg). Stacked together, the two could add up and drop your pressure a bit more than expected.

What that might feel like is dizziness, lightheadedness, or feeling faint, especially when you stand up quickly. Doxazosin is already known for a 'first-dose' drop in blood pressure, so this is worth keeping in mind. The evidence here is fairly modest, and small food amounts of black seed as a spice are unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated supplement doses are the bigger question. Before adding a black seed supplement, check with your pharmacist or doctor and watch how you feel.

What Is Doxazosin Used For?

Brand name: Cardura

Doxazosin tablets — sold as Cardura, Doxazosin, and Doxazosin mesylate — treat two conditions: the urinary symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH, an enlarged prostate) and high blood pressure (hypertension). For hypertension, lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of serious events like stroke and heart attack.

Cardura XL (extended-release tablet) is approved only for BPH symptoms. It is not approved for the treatment of hypertension.
