Corn Silk Overview
Corn silk is the thin, hair-like strands that grow from the ear of a corn plant. It is found inside the husk of the ear, along with the corn kernels. Corn silk is used in traditional medicine for its purported diuretic, anti-inflammatory, and soothing properties as it contains a number of compounds, including flavonoids, proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, fiber, volatile oils, sitosterol, stigmasterol, alkaloids, tannins, and saponins. It is used for a variety of conditions, including treat bladder and kidney problems, urinary tract infections, and prostate issues.
