Ackee Ackee is the fruit of the evergreen tree Blighia sapida, known for its edible ripe fruit consumed in West Africa and the Caribbean, where it holds the status of Jamaica's national fruit. This versatile fruit is also present in southern Florida and Central America. However, due to worries about poisoning from unripe fruit, most ackee products are prohibited from entering the US, despite their popularity in other nations.
