Lentinan Lentinan is a type of polysaccharide that is extracted from the edible mushroom Lentinula edodes, also known as shiitake. The main part of lentinan is Beta-1,3-glucan and supplements are often marketed simply under that name. Lentinan has been used for centuries in traditional medicine for its purported immune-boosting and anti-inflammatory properties. Some studies have suggested that lentinan may have anti-tumor effects and may help to boost the immune system, but more research is needed to confirm these effects and to determine the appropriate dosage and duration of use.
