Huperzine A Huperzine A is a chemical compound extracted from the Chinese herb Huperzia serrata (toothed clubmoss). It is a type of acetylcholinesterase inhibitor that prevents the breakdown of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is involved in a variety of processes, including learning and memory.
