Interaction Effect

Increased atomoxetine plasma concentrations

Interaction Summary

The concomitant use of atomoxetine, a CYP2D6 substrate[1], and lorcaserin, a CYP2D6 inhibitor, may increase atomoxetine plasma concentrations and should be approached with caution [2]. Dose reduction of atomoxetine may be required when coadministered with lorcaserin [1].

Severity

Moderate

Onset

Unspecified

Evidence

How To Manage Interaction

Use caution with the concomitant use of atomoxetine with lorcaserin as coadministration may cause increased atomoxetine plasma concentrations[2]. If concomitant use is required, dose reduction may be warranted for atomoxetine [1].

Mechanism Of Interaction

Inhibition of CYP2D6-mediated atomoxetine metabolism by lorcaserin
