Caution is advised when using ketoconazole together with a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole, pantoprazole, or lansoprazole as coadministration may impair the gastrointestinal absorption of ketoconazole leading to a loss of therapeutic effect. If concomitant use is required, administer ketoconazole with an acidic beverage such as non-diet cola and monitor antifungal activity closely. An increase in ketoconazole dose may be indicated. When ketoconazole 400 mg daily was coadministered with rabeprazole 20 mg daily, the absorption of ketoconazole was reduced by 30%, although this decrease was not considered clinically significant .

Ketoconazole Overview

Ketoconazole is used to treat fungal infections when other medications are not available or cannot be tolerated. Ketoconazole should not be used to treat fungal meningitis (infection of the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord caused by a fungus) or fungal nail infections. Ketoconazole is in a class of antifungals called imidazoles. It works by slowing the growth of fungi that cause infection.
Pantoprazole Overview

Pantoprazole is used to treat damage from gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a condition in which backward flow of acid from the stomach causes heartburn and possible injury of the esophagus (the tube between the throat and stomach) in adults and children 5 years of age and older. Pantoprazole is used to allow the esophagus to heal and prevent further damage to the esophagus in adults with GERD. It is also used to treat conditions where the stomach produces too much acid, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome in adults. Pantoprazole is in a class of medications called proton-pump inhibitors. It works by decreasing the amount of acid made in the stomach.
