Ashwagandha + Semaglutide
Semaglutide brand names: Ozempic, Rybelsus, Wegovy.
Ashwagandha has a moderate interaction with Semaglutide. Theoretically, taking ashwagandha with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Semaglutide
Semaglutide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Ashwagandha interacts with.
There is preliminary clinical evidence suggesting that ashwagandha might lower blood glucose levels. Theoretically, ashwagandha might have additive effects when used with antidiabetes drugs and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: ashwagandha may gently lower your blood sugar on its own, and semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus) is already working hard to bring those numbers down. Put the two together and their effects can stack, which could nudge your blood sugar a little too low. This isn't about ashwagandha changing how your body breaks down the drug, it's just two things pushing in the same direction.
For most people on semaglutide alone, true low blood sugar is uncommon, but the risk goes up if you also take insulin or a sulfonylurea. The evidence here is still early and mostly theoretical, so don't panic. Just keep an eye out for shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or confusion, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding ashwagandha.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Semaglutide page
“Semaglutide (Ozempic, Rybelsus, Wegovy) lowers blood sugar, and so do most of the 256 supplements on this page, which is why I read this list with real vigilance rather than a shrug. Nearly all of the entries either add to its glucose-lowering effect and raise the risk of hypoglycemia, or push sugar the other way and blunt it, as niaci…”

- Stress and anxiety

- Athletic performance
- General well-being (adaptogen)
Ashwagandha is an Ayurvedic herb most often taken to help with stress, anxiety, and sleep, and some small studies suggest it may help, though the evidence is still limited. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before starting it.
About Semaglutide
What Is Semaglutide Used For?
Brand names: Ozempic, Rybelsus, Wegovy
Semaglutide is used for several conditions, depending on the product. Wegovy is used with a reduced-calorie diet and more physical activity to reduce excess body weight and keep it off long term. It is also used to lower the risk of major cardiovascular events (heart-related death, non-fatal heart attack, or non-fatal stroke) in adults with established cardiovascular disease and either obesity or overweight.
Wegovy injection is also used for adults with noncirrhotic MASH (a fatty liver disease) with moderate to advanced liver scarring, and for weight management in children 12 and older with obesity. Ozempic is an injection used with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It also lowers the risk of major cardiovascular events in adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease. Ozempic is not for type 1 diabetes.

Semaglutide Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Semaglutide as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Ashwagandha — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
