Here's the honest picture with spearmint and aripiprazole (Abilify). This one is theoretical, meaning it comes from how the ingredients might behave rather than real-world reports of trouble in people. Aripiprazole can already cause some drowsiness or feeling slowed down in certain folks. Spearmint contains a compound called carvone that looked mildly sedating in animal studies, so the thought is it could nudge that sleepiness a bit further.

That said, the human evidence points the other way, since spearmint gum actually seemed to make people feel more alert. So for most people, a cup of spearmint tea or a flavored gum is very unlikely to matter here. I'd be a little more thoughtful with concentrated spearmint capsules. If you notice extra grogginess, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.
