Calcium D-glucarate

Additional Details
Is Calcium D-Glucarate Safe? Any Warnings?
Currently, there isn't enough reliable information to determine the safety of using calcium D-glucarate. For pregnant and lactating individuals, it's recommended to avoid using it due to the lack of sufficient data regarding its safety during these periods.
Adverse Effects
No adverse effects have been reported for calcium D-glucarate. However, a comprehensive safety evaluation is still pending.
Effectiveness
There's inadequate reliable evidence to rate the effectiveness of calcium D-glucarate for preventing breast, colorectal, and prostate cancer. More research is needed to better understand its potential benefits for these purposes.
Dosing & Administration
Unfortunately, research on typical dosing of oral calcium D-glucarate is limited and not well-established.
Interactions with Drugs
While interactions are minor, combining calcium D-glucarate with alcohol might decrease its activity. It could also affect the clearance of drugs that undergo glucuronidation, potentially impacting their effectiveness.
A full list of drug interactions is listed in the section below.
Mechanism of Action
Calcium D-glucarate is broken down into D-glucaric acid in the stomach. This acid, present in fruits and vegetables, is further metabolized into D-glucaro-1,4-lactone in the gastrointestinal tract. This lactone inhibits an enzyme called beta-glucuronidase, which is linked to an increased risk of certain cancers. Calcium D-glucarate's purported anti-cancer effects are thought to stem from reducing estrogen levels and aiding detoxification processes in the body.
