The capsule itself is made from hypromellose and water, which are inactive ingredients that help deliver the active component.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Betaine anhydrous is effective for homocystinuria (a rare genetic disorder that raises homocysteine levels dangerously high). It's possibly effective for hyperhomocysteinemia (high homocysteine in the blood).
For other uses listed on this product — fatty liver disease (nonalcoholic steatohepatitis or NASH), colorectal adenoma prevention, depression, and acid reflux (GERD) — we don't have enough reliable evidence to rate how well it works.
