- Vitamin D is essential for promoting calcium absorption in the intestinal tract and maintaining adequate serum calcium and phosphate concentrations. It is also needed for normal bone growth and development. Vitamin D has other roles in human health, including modulation of neuromuscular and immune function and reduction of inflammation. Vitamin D requires conversion by the liver and kidneys to become active. Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is considered to be greater than three times more potent than vitamin D2. Turmeric extract contains phenolic compounds called curcuminoids and is one of nature's most potent anti-inflammatories and antioxidants. Green Tea Extract is rich in catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate is also a powerful anti-oxidant. Antioxidants work in helping the body prevent free radicals from forming and by neutralizing the free radicals which have already been formed.
