Calcium
Calcium is a vital nutrient found in various foods such as dairy products, certain vegetables, and many fortified items. Over 99% of the body's calcium is stored in the bones and teeth, predominantly as hydroxyapatite. The remaining calcium circulates in the blood, extracellular fluid, muscles, and other tissues, where it is essential for processes like nerve signaling, muscle contraction, vascular activities, glandular secretion, and maintaining cell membrane and capillary permeability. It also plays critical roles in enzyme reactions, respiration, kidney function, and blood clotting, and is involved in neurotransmitter and hormone release, amino acid uptake, vitamin B12 absorption, and gastrin secretion. Calcium balance changes with age: it is positive during periods of growth, stable in adulthood, and tends to become negative in older age. Calcium loss occurs through feces, urine, sweat, and shedding skin cells. In women, reduced estrogen levels decrease calcium absorption and retention, increase bone turnover, and lead to lower bone mass. Calcium supplements come in various forms, including citrate and carbonate, which differ mainly in their calcium content and absorption rates. Calcium citrate is easily absorbed and can be taken without food, making it suitable for older adults or those with low stomach acid. In contrast, calcium carbonate, which contains a higher percentage of calcium, is best absorbed when taken with meals.

Vitamin D3
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that plays a crucial role in several bodily processes. It helps the body absorb calcium and phosphorus, which are necessary for healthy bones and teeth. It is also important for immune system function and may help to protect against certain diseases. Vitamin D is found in a variety of foods, including fatty fish, egg yolks, and fortified foods such as milk and cereal. It is also produced by the body when the skin is exposed to sunlight. Vitamin D supplements are available in a variety of forms, including tablets, capsules, and liquids. The recommended daily intake of vitamin D varies depending on age, sex, and other factors, and it is important to follow the dosage recommendations provided by a healthcare professional. There are several different forms of vitamin D available, with the two most popular being ergocalciferol (vitamin D2) and cholecalciferol (vitamin D3).

Silicon
Silicon, atomic number 14, is the second most abundant element on Earth, after oxygen. It is present in the human body in small amounts (such as in the skin, hair, and nails) and is considered a trace mineral in that regard. Dietary sources of silicon include oats, barley, rice, and some fruits/vegetables. Silicon is a popular dietary supplement, often consumed in the form of silica, which is a chemical compound made up of silicon and oxygen, or as silicic acid (also known as orthosilicic acid). Another common form of silicon utilized is Choline-stabilized orthosilicic acid (ch-OSA), which is the active ingredient in the popular product Biosil. Silicon is used for its purported effects to improve the health and appearance of the skin, hair, and nails. It has also historically been used for other health conditions, such as osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, and cognitive decline.

- OSAplex(TM) is a comprehensive, convenient and cost-effective dietary supplement for support of healthy bone, cartilage and ligaments. Each packet has two capsules containing microcrystalline hydroxyapatite (MCHC) and vitamin D3, as well as a capsule containing Choline-Stabilized Orthosilicic Acid (ch-OSA(R)).
Bone is composed of a calcium-based mineral complex and an organic material known as collagen. A somewhat flexible, fibrous protein, collagen appears to be a key component to the bone’s ability to withstand sudden impact. The quantity and health of collagen determines the bone’s “toughness”; while the mineral content determines it’s strength and stiffness.
OSAplex(TM) is one of the only bone formulas on the market that contains clinically-tested, choline-stabilized orthosilicic acid, a well-absorbed form of silicon. Silicon-dependent enzymes link together single chains of amino acids to synthesize collagen fibers. The surfaces of these collagen fibers act as the binding sites for the MCHC. The more surface area the MCHC has to bind to, the more flexible the bone.
MCHC, a comprehensive, proprietary, standardized extraction from one of the world’s safest, most natural, premium sources of bone contains a crystalline calcium and phosphorous matrix in the ideal physiological ratio of 2:1, bioactive growth factors and Type I collagen. Amino acids, glycosaminoglycans and a broad range of essential trace elements are also present.
Combine the ch-OSA(R) and MCHC with therapeutic levels of vitamin D3 and the result is a unique “package” that addresses both quantity and quality of bone, thereby supporting total bone strength and health.*
