Low disclosure
Ingredient Transparency · database check
Low

Most active ingredients don't disclose an individual amount — you can't tell how much of each you're getting.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 0 of its 4 active ingredients.
  • “Proprietary Blend” is a proprietary blend — the label doesn't break down how much of each component you get.

Power Probiotic Daily contains four active ingredients, all live beneficial bacteria. Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus acidophilus are well-studied strains; the product also includes Lactobacillus plantarum LP-115 and HOWARU Bifido.

These probiotics are meant to support digestive and immune health by adding beneficial microorganisms to your gut. The capsule itself contains cellulose as an inactive ingredient.

Moderate evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Moderate

Some clinical evidence supports this product's ingredients for its stated purpose, but it isn't conclusive.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: digestive health and probiotic support.
  • We looked for evidence on: Antibiotic-associated diarrhea, Bacterial vaginosis, Clostridioides difficile infection, Colic, Constipation, Diarrhea — and 4 related terms.
  • The strongest evidence on file: Lactobacillus Acidophilus is rated "Possibly Effective" for Antibiotic-associated diarrhea (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Lactobacillus Acidophilus is rated "Possibly Effective" for Bacterial vaginosis, Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
  • Also on file: Lactobacillus Acidophilus is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Constipation, Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Radiation-induced diarrhea, Lactose intolerance.

The evidence for Lactobacillus acidophilus is strongest for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), antibiotic-associated diarrhea, bacterial vaginosis, and Helicobacter pylori infection — all rated Possibly Effective. For Bifidobacterium longum, the data we hold show Insufficient Reliable Evidence for age-related cognitive decline, hay fever, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, anxiety, asthma, and athletic performance.

The evidence for this product's other two bacterial strains (Lactobacillus plantarum LP-115 and HOWARU Bifido) isn't established in the data we hold.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 2 of the 2 matched ingredients.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 2 of 2.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 2 of 2.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus acidophilus are both generally well tolerated in healthy people, but caution is needed if you're seriously ill or immune-compromised — the live organisms can rarely cause infection in those situations. Rare side effects from Bifidobacterium longum include abdominal discomfort, flatulence, constipation, and in one case a dry cough.

Lactobacillus acidophilus may cause uncommon gastrointestinal symptoms like bloating, gas, abdominal pain, or diarrhea, especially when combined with other probiotics. For pregnancy and lactation, Bifidobacterium longum is rated Possibly Safe; Lactobacillus acidophilus is Possibly Safe during pregnancy, though limited safety data exist during breastfeeding — talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using while breastfeeding.

Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 2 of the 2 matched ingredients can interact with medications — Lactobacillus Acidophilus, Bifidobacterium Longum.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • For scale: 182 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

If you take antibiotic drugs, hold off on this product while you're on the antibiotics — space them out by several hours since antibiotics will kill the beneficial bacteria in the supplement. This applies to all antibiotics, as both Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus acidophilus are affected.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

This probiotic blend may help with IBS, antibiotic-related diarrhea, or other digestive concerns if Lactobacillus acidophilus is the active ingredient doing the work, though evidence for the other strains is sparse in our data. The main caution is timing: if you're on antibiotics, separate them from this supplement by several hours to keep the live bacteria intact.

If you're seriously ill, immune-compromised, or pregnant or breastfeeding, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.

Pharmaceutical Grade

Power Probiotic Daily is a four-strain, vegetarian, dairy- and gluten-free probiotic formula totaling 30 billion CFU per capsule. Since heat, moisture, and oxygen are proven to degrade probiotic stability, each capsule is sealed in nitrogen-purged aluminum blister packs. This probiotic formula provides four researched strains of useful bacteria, including the extensively studied HMO19 strain of Bifidobacterium lactis. These live microorganisms have proven health benefits, well-established safety and have been tested for epithelial cell adherence and/or resistance to lower pH, Power Probiotic 100B probiotics are encased in innovative stomach acid-resistant capsules called DRcaps to further support resistance to low pH and the delivery of microorganisms to the small intestines.

Power Probiotic Daily by Pure TheraPro Rx: Common Questions

Does Power Probiotic Daily by Pure TheraPro Rx interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Power Probiotic Daily has a known interaction with 182 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Power Probiotic Daily contains 4 active ingredients, and an interaction can come from any of them. We check every ingredient, combine the results into one list per medication, and show which ingredient and mechanism is responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Will antibiotics kill the probiotics in this supplement?
Yes — antibiotics can kill the live bacteria in Power Probiotic Daily. That's why it's important to separate them: take your antibiotic and the probiotic several hours apart so they don't work against each other. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for the best timing for your specific medication.
Is this safe to take while I'm breastfeeding?
Bifidobacterium longum is rated Possibly Safe during breastfeeding, but we don't have solid safety data yet. Lactobacillus acidophilus has limited breastfeeding data in our files. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting — they can weigh the potential benefit against the limited information we have.
Can this help with IBS or antibiotic-related diarrhea?
Lactobacillus acidophilus is rated Possibly Effective for both IBS and antibiotic-associated diarrhea, so it may help. We don't have established evidence for Bifidobacterium longum for those uses. The other two bacterial strains in the blend don't have effectiveness ratings in our data.
What side effects might I notice?
Most people tolerate this well, but some report mild gas, bloating, or abdominal discomfort, especially when combining probiotics. Rare side effects have included constipation or a dry cough. If you experience stomach pain or other symptoms that concern you, mention them to your pharmacist.
Is this safe if I'm seriously ill or have a weak immune system?
These probiotics can pose a risk for people who are critically ill or have compromised immune systems — there are rare cases of infection. If you fall into either category, don't start this without your doctor's okay.
What does each ingredient in this blend do?
Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus acidophilus are well-known beneficial gut bacteria. We don't have detailed effectiveness data on file for Lactobacillus plantarum LP-115 or HOWARU Bifido, but they're all meant to support digestive health as part of a live probiotic blend.
