Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 2 of its 2 active ingredients.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

TUDCA+ 250 mg contains 2 active ingredients: choline and TUDCA (tauroursodeoxycholic acid). Choline is a nutrient involved in cell function and neurotransmitter production.

TUDCA is a bile acid believed to support liver and cellular health. The capsule also contains several inactive ingredients — gelatin, dicalcium phosphate, brown rice flour, microcrystalline cellulose, and magnesium stearate — which help form and stabilize the supplement.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Choline product and its label doesn't state a use — see Choline's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

Evidence for choline's effectiveness varies widely by condition. For athletic performance, the data suggests it's possibly ineffective.

For bronchitis, age-related cognitive decline, liver fat associated with total parenteral nutrition (TPN-associated hepatic steatosis), allergic rhinitis (hay fever), and Alzheimer disease, we don't have enough reliable evidence to rate whether it works. Effectiveness data for TUDCA is not on file in our data.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Choline is generally well tolerated at appropriate doses, but high-dose supplements can cause side effects. The tolerable upper intake level is 3.5 grams daily; doses beyond that — especially at 9 grams or higher — may cause diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, salivation, sweating, or a fishy body odor (from how your body metabolizes choline).

Choline is rated likely safe in pregnancy and lactation, though your doctor or pharmacist can advise on whether supplemental doses are right for you. Safety data for TUDCA is not on file.

Minor interactions only
Known Interaction Concern · database check
Minor only

Only Minor-severity interactions are documented for these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Choline.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Minor.
  • For scale: 16 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before taking TUDCA+ 250 mg, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you use atropine — choline may theoretically reduce how well it works. TUDCA could not be checked for interactions because we hold no data on it, so it's especially important to clear this supplement with your healthcare provider if you're on any medications.
