Clinical
This is an over-the-counter oral gel marketed under FDA's monograph regulations for toothache and gum discomfort. It contains benzocaine, a local anesthetic commonly used to numb pain on contact, and menthol, which typically produces a cooling sensation. The formula also includes benzalkonium chloride and zinc chloride, which function as antimicrobial and astringent ingredients often found in oral care products. The gel is applied directly to the affected area of the mouth.
