Answer
Thanks for reaching out to us! We've answered a few questions recently about Zarbee's products and we're more than happy to answer more.
It is perfectly safe to take (or give to your child in this case) prednisone and Zarbee's Cough syrup together. There is no known interaction between them, and based on the ingredients in Zarbee's, we wouldn't expect any interactions.
This applies to other steroids as well, not just prednisone. Methylprednisolone and prednisolone are also safe to take with Zarbee's Cough.
What Is In Zarbee's Cough Syrup?
Zarbee's Cough syrup for children contains:
- Dark honey
- Grapefruit seed extract
- Citric acid
- Ascorbic acid
- Water
- Natural flavors
- Zinc gluconate
As mentioned, none of the above ingredients interact with prednisone.
In fact, there are no known interactions between Zarbee's cough and any prescription medication. While grapefruit is somewhat notorious for its role in a multitude of drug interactions, the very small amount of grapefruit seed extract contained here is not thought to be of concern.
Final Words
Thanks again for your question and I hope your little guy starts to feel better soon!
