Aletris Aletris farinosa, commonly known as True Unicorn Root or Colic Root, is a perennial herb native to North America. The plant is characterized by its slender, erect stem and narrow leaves, with small, white flowers clustered at the top. The part of aletris used for its medicinal properties is the root, which contains a variety of compounds including a cheilanthane sesterterpene. This herb has been traditionally employed for addressing menstrual complaints, with some of its constituents believed to possess estrogenic activity.
