Asian Water Plantain Alisma plantago-aquatica, commonly known as Asian water plantain, is a plant popular in traditional Chinese medicine. The plant contains triterpenoids like alisol-A, alisol-B, and alisol-C, as well as alismol, alismoloxide, orientalols, and chlorogenic acid, among others. Preliminary research suggests potential anti-atherosclerotic and antioxidant effects, as well as renal effects promoting diuresis, but more research is needed to understand its pharmacokinetics and mechanism of action fully.
