Interaction Details
There were no interactions found between Acetaminophen and Mommy's Bliss Gripe Water. This does not mean the potential for an interaction does not exist, however. There is often a lack of studies and data surrounding traditional medicine, especially concerning drug interactions, so it is important to always consult your provider before making any changes to your medication regimen.
Pharmacist Analysis
Mommy's Bliss Gripe Water is intended to help treat colicky infants and soothe gastrointestinal discomfort.
There is no 'standardized' gripe water formula, but generally, gripe water formulas contain a blend of herbal ingredients. Mommy's Bliss contains the following:
- Organic Fennel Seed
- Organic Ginger Root
- Purified Water
- Vegetable Glycerin
- Citrus Bioflavonoid Extract
- Citric Acid
- Sodium Bicarbonate
- Potassium Sorbate
- Natural Fennel Flavor
It is important to note that Mommy's Bliss Gripe Water contains sodium bicarbonate, which is commonly known as baking soda. It is a well-known acid neutralizer and likely plays a key role in relieving colic symptoms if excess acid is at least partially responsible for the symptoms being experienced.
While there is no interaction between Mommy's Bliss Gripe Water and the drug in question here, it is important to note that Mommy's Bliss Gripe Water does have some theoretical ones with other drugs simply based on the fact that two herbals in the product, ginger, and fennel, can affect the metabolism and/or effects of some substances.
We have more details on specific drug-herbal interaction pages.
Safe With Tylenol (Acetaminophen)?
There is no known interaction between any of the ingredients in Mommy's Bliss Gripe Water and Tylenol (acetaminophen).
None of the ingredients are known to affect the metabolism of Tylenol and are not known to increase the risk of any side effects associated with Tylenol.
They are considered safe to take together.
Tylenol may be considered a better analgesic choice than ibuprofen as well for a colicky infant since Tylenol generally isn't associated with the stomach-related side effects that ibuprofen is.

Acetaminophen Overview
-
Acetaminophen is used to relieve mild to moderate pain from headaches, muscle aches, menstrual periods, colds and sore throats, toothaches, backaches, and reactions to vaccinations (shots), and to reduce fever. Acetaminophen may also be used to relieve the pain of osteoarthritis (arthritis caused by the breakdown of the lining of the joints). Acetaminophen is in a class of medications called analgesics (pain relievers) and antipyretics (fever reducers). It works by changing the way the body senses pain and by cooling the body.
