Theoretically, Acacia rigidula products that are adulterated with beta-methylphenylethylamine (BMPEA) might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA, an adulterant found in many Acacia rigidula products, inhibits CYP3A4 enzyme by 37%.

Acacia Rigidula Overview
Acacia rigidula is a species of acacia tree native to Texas and Mexico. The plant is known for its small, bright yellow flowers and its woody, thorny branches.
Acacia rigidula has been traditionally used for medicinal purposes and is available as a dietary supplement marketed for weight loss aid and as a stimulant. It is purported to boost energy, increase metabolism, and aid weight loss.
Studies have found several active compounds in Acacia rigidula, including phenylethylamine (PEA) and its derivatives, which are considered to be stimulants.
Carbamazepine Overview

Carbamazepine is used alone or in combination with other medications to control certain types of seizures in people with epilepsy. It is also used to treat trigeminal neuralgia (a condition that causes facial nerve pain). Carbamazepine extended-release capsules (Equetro brand only) are also used to treat episodes of mania (frenzied, abnormally excited or irritated mood) or mixed episodes (symptoms of mania and depression that happen at the same time) in patients with bipolar I disorder (manic-depressive disorder; a disease that causes episodes of depression, episodes of mania, and other abnormal moods). Carbamazepine is in a class of medications called anticonvulsants. It works by reducing abnormal electrical activity in the brain.
