The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Pea Protein and Norgestrel in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Pea Protein and Norgestrel

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Norgestrel and Pea Protein in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Pea Protein at all — not against Norgestrel, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Pea Protein safety at a glance

Pea Protein overall Generally safe Pea protein is a food-derived protein that is generally well tolerated by most healthy people.

Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.

What Pea Protein Itself Has Been Linked To

This is not an interaction — nothing below involves Norgestrel. It is the side-effect record for Pea Protein on its own, from the licensed Natural Medicines monograph. If something new turns up after you add Pea Protein, this list is the first place to look. One entry is worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

  • Wheezing / A severe allergic reaction / Hives / An allergic reaction Worth acting on Additional detail

“Orally, pea protein may cause allergic reactions in individuals sensitive to other foods. A case series describes 6 children who had anaphylactic reactions to pea protein present in a number of food items. Other symptoms included angioedema, urticaria, and asthma. All the children had a history of allergies to other foods including peanuts, tree nuts, chickpeas, lentils, or kidney beans.”

Everything above comes from the Natural Medicines adverse-effect record for Pea Protein — expand a row for the licensed statement it rests on. We haven’t matched Norgestrel to its FDA label in our system yet, so we can’t compare its own side-effect list here — the leaflet that comes with your prescription is the authoritative list for Norgestrel.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Norgestrel page

“Norgestrel (Ovrette) is a progestin-only birth control pill, so the biggest danger on this page is not a strange side effect but a pill that quietly stops working. That risk makes this a page for genuine vigilance.”

About Pea Protein

What is Pea Protein?

  • Building muscle and strength
  • Plant-based protein supplement
  • Weight management and appetite control
  • Post-workout recovery
  • Meal replacement

Pea protein is a plant-based protein powder made from yellow split peas, commonly used by people who want a dairy-free or vegan source of protein to support muscle and overall protein intake. Research suggests it can support muscle building similar to other proteins when paired with resistance exercise, and it is generally well tolerated. As a food-based protein, it is considered safe for most people, but check with your pharmacist or doctor if you have kidney problems or a legume allergy.

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Pea Protein is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Pea Protein record says about it on its own.

Pea Protein: dosing

There is no single official dose of pea protein, because the right amount depends on your overall diet, body size, and goals. Most products provide about 20 to 25 grams of protein per scoop, but this varies by brand. The best approach is to follow the directions on the product label and use pea protein to help fill the gap between the protein you get from food and your daily needs.

About Progestin-Only (norethindrone) Oral Contraceptives

What Is Progestin-Only (norethindrone) Oral Contraceptives Used For?

Brand names: Ovrette, Orval 21

Norethindrone progestin-only pills — sometimes called the "mini-pill" — are used solely to prevent pregnancy. They do not contain estrogen, which makes them an option for women who cannot or prefer not to use estrogen-containing contraceptives.

When taken perfectly (same time every day, no missed pills), fewer than 1 in 100 women will become pregnant in the first year. With typical use, that number rises to about 9 in 100 — mostly because of late or skipped pills. Consistency is everything with this method.
