Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product has one active ingredient: biotin, a B vitamin that supports healthy hair, skin, and nails. At 10,000 micrograms per capsule, this is a high-dose supplement.

The capsule also contains inactive ingredients—rice flour, hypromellose (a plant-based capsule material), silicon dioxide, and stearic acid—which are standard binders and flow agents.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

We hold no graded evidence for this product's ingredients for its stated purpose.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: normal growth and body function.
  • Our graded evidence for these ingredients doesn't cover that particular purpose.

Biotin is likely effective for biotin deficiency itself. For other uses, the evidence is less clear: it's rated possibly ineffective for multiple sclerosis and seborrheic dermatitis (a common scalp and skin rash), and there's insufficient reliable evidence to say whether it helps with alopecia areata (patchy hair loss).

Many people take high-dose biotin for general hair and nail health, but the data we hold doesn't establish that benefit.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Biotin is generally well tolerated, even at fairly high doses, because your body excretes excess through the urine. High-dose biotin has rarely been associated with mild diarrhea—two patients taking 300 mg daily reported transient mild diarrhea.

One isolated case report linked high-dose biotin (along with pantothenic acid and another medication) to a rare chest and heart lining inflammation, but whether biotin was the cause remains unclear, and no similar cases have been reported since. Because this product is a high-dose supplement, check with your doctor before starting it.

No known interactions

No medication interactions are currently documented for the matched ingredients — that isn't a guarantee none exist.

Why this rating?
  • None of the 1 matched ingredient has a documented medication interaction on file.

No interactions are documented for biotin in our data. That doesn't mean interactions are impossible, so if you take any prescription medications, run them through the checker on this page or ask your pharmacist before you start.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.

If you have a biotin deficiency, this supplement is likely to help. For hair, skin, or nail health in people without a deficiency, the evidence isn't established in our data.

This product is generally well tolerated and doesn't interact with medications we could check, but because it's a high-dose supplement, talk with your doctor or pharmacist first to make sure it fits your situation.

Biotin 10,000 mcg by LuckyVitamin: Common Questions

Does Biotin 10,000 mcg by LuckyVitamin interact with any medications?
We do not currently list a known interaction for the mapped ingredients in Biotin 10,000 mcg. This does not guarantee none exist, so confirm with your pharmacist.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Biotin 10,000 mcg contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Is biotin safe during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
Biotin is rated likely safe in pregnancy and lactation. Normal dietary and supplement amounts are fine, but because this is a high-dose product, talk with your doctor or midwife first to confirm it's right for you.
What exactly is biotin, and what does it do?
Biotin is a B vitamin that your body uses to process fats, carbohydrates, and protein. It's also thought to support healthy hair, skin, and nails, which is why it's popular in supplements.
Will biotin actually make my hair grow or stop it from falling out?
Biotin is likely effective if you have a biotin deficiency. For people without a deficiency, we don't have established evidence that it promotes hair growth. If you're concerned about hair loss, talk with your doctor or dermatologist about what might be causing it.
Can taking high-dose biotin cause side effects?
High-dose biotin is rarely associated with mild diarrhea. One very unusual case linked high-dose biotin (plus pantothenic acid) to chest and heart lining inflammation, but it's unclear whether biotin was responsible, and no other cases like it have been reported.
Is there a reason to take 10,000 mcg instead of a lower dose?
The facts we have don't specify what dose is best for which goal. Your doctor or pharmacist can help you decide whether this high-dose product is appropriate for what you're trying to achieve.
