What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: biotin, a B vitamin your body uses for healthy hair, skin, and nails, as well as energy and metabolism. The softgel also holds several inactive ingredients — soybean oil, gelatin, glycerin, yellow beeswax, and titanium dioxide — which are the base and coating that hold and deliver the biotin.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Biotin is likely effective for biotin deficiency — a true shortfall of the vitamin that can happen but is uncommon. For other uses, the evidence is less clear: studies suggest it's possibly ineffective for multiple sclerosis and seborrheic dermatitis (a flaky, itchy scalp condition), and there isn't enough reliable evidence yet to rate it for alopecia areata (patchy hair loss).
If you're considering biotin for hair, skin, or nails in the absence of a diagnosed deficiency, talk with your doctor about whether the evidence supports it for your situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Biotin is generally well tolerated, even at fairly high doses, because your body excretes excess amounts in the urine. High-dose biotin has rarely been linked to mild diarrhea — a small number of people taking very large daily doses (like 300 mg) reported transient mild loose stools.
One case report describes a person who developed a rare fluid accumulation around the heart and lungs after taking this dose alongside other supplements and medications over 2 months, but it's unclear whether biotin was the cause. Because this is a high-dose supplement, your doctor should review it before you start, particularly if you're pregnant, nursing, or taking other medications or supplements.

The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.
If you have a diagnosed biotin deficiency, this supplement is likely to help. If you're taking it for hair, skin, or general wellness, the evidence is limited — talk with your doctor first.
Because it's a high-dose product, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting, especially if you're pregnant, nursing, or taking other medications.
