Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: biotin, a B vitamin at a 10,000 microgram dose. Biotin supports hair, skin, and nail health and plays a role in how your body breaks down food for energy.

The tablet also contains several inactive ingredients (fillers and binders) that help it hold its shape and dissolve quickly — xylitol for sweetness, cellulose gum, crospovidone, and others. These help create the fast-dissolving strawberry tablet you're taking, not the biotin itself.

Strong evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Strong

Clinical evidence supports at least one of this product's ingredients for its stated purpose.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: support healthy hair, skin and nails.
  • We looked for evidence on: Alopecia areata, Biotin deficiency, Brittle nails, Seborrheic dermatitis, Hair loss, Nail health — and 2 related terms.
  • The strongest evidence on file: Biotin is rated "Likely Effective" for Biotin deficiency (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Biotin is rated "Possibly Ineffective" for Seborrheic dermatitis.
  • Also on file: Biotin is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Alopecia areata, Brittle nails.

Biotin is likely effective for biotin deficiency — meaning if your doctor's confirmed you're deficient, supplementing works. For other uses like hair loss (alopecia areata), multiple sclerosis, or seborrheic dermatitis (a scaly skin condition), the evidence is insufficient or suggests biotin won't help much.

If you're taking this for general wellness or because you've heard it supports hair and nails, the research doesn't establish clear benefit for those goals in people who aren't deficient. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor about whether your particular reason for taking it is backed by evidence.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Biotin is generally well tolerated, even at fairly high doses, because your body clears excess through urine. High-dose biotin has rarely been linked to mild diarrhea — one small study reported this with 300 mg daily (much higher than your 10,000 mcg, which equals 10 mg).

One very rare case reported a severe reaction, but it involved biotin plus pantothenic acid plus another medication, and the cause wasn't clear. Pregnancy and lactation: the amounts in food and prenatal vitamins are considered likely safe.

But because you're taking a high-dose supplement here, check with your doctor first before using it while pregnant or breastfeeding.

No known interactions

No medication interactions are currently documented for the matched ingredients — that isn't a guarantee none exist.

Why this rating?
  • None of the 1 matched ingredient has a documented medication interaction on file.

No interactions are documented in our data for the ingredients we could check in this product. You're in the clear on that front — but as always, it's smart to mention any new supplement to your pharmacist.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.

This is a straightforward biotin supplement with no documented medication interactions. It's likely effective if you have a biotin deficiency — otherwise, evidence for its benefits is weak or missing.

If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking a high-dose biotin product, talk with your doctor first. Run your medications through the checker if you want extra reassurance.

Biotin 10,000 mcg Fast Dissolve Strawberry by Natrol: Common Questions

Does Biotin 10,000 mcg Fast Dissolve Strawberry by Natrol interact with any medications?
We do not currently list a known interaction for the mapped ingredients in Biotin 10,000 mcg Fast Dissolve Strawberry. This does not guarantee none exist, so confirm with your pharmacist.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Biotin 10,000 mcg Fast Dissolve Strawberry contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Does biotin actually help hair and nails grow?
The evidence doesn't clearly show that biotin helps hair or nails in people who aren't deficient in it. If your doctor's confirmed you're low in biotin, supplementing makes sense. Otherwise, the research is weak on this claim.
Is 10,000 mcg a high dose?
Yes — that's 10 mg, well above what food provides. The research on adverse effects at this level is limited, but mild diarrhea has been reported with much higher doses. It's a good idea to ask your doctor if this dose is right for you.
Can I take this while I'm pregnant?
Biotin from food and prenatal vitamins is considered likely safe in pregnancy. But because this is a high-dose supplement, talk with your doctor before starting it — they'll know your individual situation best.
What does 'fast dissolve' mean on the label?
It means the tablet breaks down quickly on or under your tongue, rather than needing to be swallowed whole. The inactive ingredients help it dissolve fast while the biotin does the work.
Can biotin interact with any of my medications?
Based on our data, biotin has no documented interactions with medications. If you want to be extra sure, run your specific drugs through the interaction checker on this page.
Is this safe to take long-term?
Biotin is generally well tolerated over time because excess leaves your body in urine. That said, because this is a high-dose product, it's best to check with your doctor about how long you should take it and whether it's the right choice for you.
