Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: biotin, a B vitamin your body uses to process amino acids (the building blocks of protein) and help convert food into energy. You get small amounts of biotin from foods like eggs, salmon, and nuts, but this supplement delivers 1000 micrograms—much more than a typical diet.
The tablet also contains inactive ingredients (fillers and binders): calcium carbonate, vegetable cellulose, silica, and vegetable magnesium stearate. These help hold the tablet together and have no therapeutic role.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Biotin is likely effective for biotin deficiency—a rare condition that causes skin rashes, hair loss, and nerve problems. If you've been diagnosed with a deficiency, this supplement can help.
For other uses, the evidence is less clear. Biotin has been studied for seborrheic dermatitis (an itchy, flaky scalp condition) and multiple sclerosis, but current data rates it as possibly ineffective for both.
For alopecia areata (a condition where hair falls out in patches), there isn't enough reliable evidence yet to say whether it works.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Biotin is generally well tolerated, even at fairly high doses, because your body removes excess amounts in the urine. In rare cases, high-dose biotin has been linked to mild diarrhea—the cases reported involved much larger doses (300 mg daily) than this product.
There's one isolated case report of a woman who developed inflammation (eosinophilic pleuropericarditis) after taking biotin 10 mg along with other supplements and medications, but it's unclear whether biotin was the cause, and no similar cases have been reported since. Pregnancy and lactation: the data rates this as likely safe, though the notes advise checking with your doctor before taking high-dose biotin supplements—this product is 1000 mcg, so discuss it with your doctor or pharmacist if you're pregnant or nursing.
Meds to double-check

The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with strong clinical evidence behind its ingredients' uses. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.
If you've been diagnosed with biotin deficiency, this supplement can help. For other uses—hair loss, dermatitis, MS—the evidence doesn't support it yet.
At 1000 mcg, this is a moderate dose; it's well tolerated in most people, but if you're pregnant, nursing, or taking any medications, talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist before you start.
