Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: D-biotin (also called biotin or vitamin B7), at a dose of 5,000 mcg per tablet. Biotin is a B vitamin that plays a role in hair, skin, and nail health, and it's essential for people who are biotin-deficient.

The inactive ingredients are mannitol, modified cellulose, natural flavors, natural color, citric acid, magnesium stearate, monk fruit extract, stevia leaf extract, and silica — these are the tablet base and sweeteners.

Does it work?

Strong evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Strong

Clinical evidence supports at least one of this product's ingredients for its stated purpose.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: healthy hair, skin and nails.
  • We looked for evidence on: Biotin deficiency, Brittle nails, Hair loss, Nail health, Skin health.
  • The strongest evidence on file: Biotin is rated "Likely Effective" for Biotin deficiency (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Biotin is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Brittle nails.

Biotin is likely effective for biotin deficiency — if you're low in this vitamin, supplementing will correct that. For other uses like hair loss (alopecia areata), seborrheic dermatitis (a flaky, itchy scalp condition), or multiple sclerosis, the evidence we hold either doesn't support it or isn't strong enough to say whether it works.

If you're taking this for one of those reasons, talk with your doctor about whether the science supports it for your situation.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Biotin is generally well tolerated, even at fairly high doses, because your body excretes excess amounts in urine. The most common side effect at very high doses is mild diarrhea — rare, and usually not serious.

One case report described a serious lung and heart lining inflammation in a woman taking biotin 10 mg daily (along with other supplements and medications), but no similar cases have been reported since, so this appears extremely uncommon and its link to biotin itself is unclear. Biotin from food and prenatal vitamins is considered safe in pregnancy and lactation.

However, if you're considering a high-dose supplement like this 5,000 mcg tablet, discuss it with your doctor first — especially during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Let your healthcare provider know about high-dose biotin before any lab work, because it can affect the accuracy of certain blood tests.

Biotin 5,000 mcg Strawberry Burst by EZ Melts: Common Questions

Does Biotin 5,000 mcg Strawberry Burst by EZ Melts interact with any medications?
We do not currently list a known interaction for the mapped ingredients in Biotin 5,000 mcg Strawberry Burst. This does not guarantee none exist, so confirm with your pharmacist.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Biotin 5,000 mcg Strawberry Burst contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Is biotin safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding?
Yes — biotin is rated likely safe in pregnancy and lactation. Amounts from food and standard prenatal vitamins are fine. If you're considering this high-dose 5,000 mcg supplement, check with your doctor first to make sure it's right for you.
What does biotin actually do?
Biotin is a B vitamin (vitamin B7) that your body needs for hair, skin, and nail health, and for normal metabolism. This product is most useful if you're biotin-deficient. If you're taking it for hair loss, scalp conditions, or other reasons, the evidence is weak or doesn't support it — talk with your doctor about whether it makes sense for you.
Can biotin cause side effects?
At very high doses, biotin has rarely caused mild diarrhea. One case report described a serious reaction in someone taking a much higher dose (10 mg daily) along with other supplements, but no similar cases have been reported. At 5,000 mcg, serious side effects are extremely unlikely.
Will biotin interfere with my lab tests?
Yes — biotin can affect the accuracy of certain blood tests, sometimes giving false highs or lows. Before any lab work, let your doctor or lab know you're taking biotin so they can account for it or time your test appropriately.
Does this product contain fillers or other ingredients I should know about?
The active ingredient is biotin. The tablet also contains mannitol and modified cellulose (the tablet base), citric acid, monk fruit and stevia (sweeteners), natural flavors and color, magnesium stearate, and silica. If you have allergies or sensitivities to any of these, check the label and talk with your pharmacist.
Can I take this with my other medications?
No interactions are documented between biotin and medications in our data. Use the checker on this page to confirm your exact drugs, but based on what we hold, you should be fine to take it alongside prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs. If you have questions about your specific situation, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
