What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: vitamin B7, also called biotin. It's a B vitamin your body needs to process amino acids and fats, and it plays a role in energy metabolism and hair and skin health.
The powder form makes it easy to mix into drinks or food if you prefer that to a pill.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Biotin is likely effective for biotin deficiency — the condition it's meant to treat. For multiple sclerosis, seborrheic dermatitis (a scaly skin condition), and hair loss (alopecia areata), the evidence we have suggests it's either not effective or there isn't enough reliable research to say either way.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Biotin is generally well tolerated, even at fairly high doses, because your body excretes excess amounts in your urine. High-dose biotin has rarely been associated with mild diarrhea — a small number of trial participants reported transient mild symptoms when taking 300 mg daily.
One case report from France described a rare inflammatory condition in a patient taking biotin 10 mg daily plus other supplements, but whether biotin was actually responsible remains unclear, and no similar cases have been reported since. Normal dietary amounts and typical supplement doses are considered safe.
If you're thinking about taking high-dose biotin, talk with your doctor first.
Meds to double-check
No known interactions
No interactions are documented in our data for the ingredient we could check. That said, if you take any medications, running them through the checker on this page is always a good idea.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.
If you have a biotin deficiency or want to support your hair and skin with a B vitamin, this is a straightforward, well-tolerated option. The evidence for other uses like alopecia or multiple sclerosis isn't strong.
Chat with your pharmacist if you're unsure whether you actually need it or what dose makes sense for you.
