What’s inside
Full disclosure
This supplement contains one active ingredient: biotin, a B vitamin that your body needs to convert food into energy and support healthy hair, skin, and nails. At 10,000 micrograms per capsule, this is a high-dose formulation—well above the daily dietary need.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients (rice powder, microcrystalline cellulose, and other standard tablet binders and flow agents) to hold the biotin in form.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Biotin is likely effective for treating biotin deficiency, which is rare but can occur with certain medical conditions or medications. For other uses listed here—multiple sclerosis, seborrheic dermatitis (a flaky, itchy scalp condition), and alopecia areata (patchy hair loss)—the evidence either suggests it probably won't help or isn't strong enough to rate.
If you're considering this for hair, skin, or nails in the absence of a diagnosed deficiency, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about what the evidence actually supports.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Biotin is generally well tolerated, even at high doses, because your body eliminates excess amounts in urine. High-dose biotin has rarely been linked to mild diarrhea—two patients taking 300 mg daily reported this.
One case report described a patient on very high-dose biotin and pantothenic acid who developed inflammation in the chest lining, but it's unclear whether biotin was the cause, and no similar cases have been reported since. Because this is a high-dose product, check with your doctor before starting it.
Meds to double-check
No known interactions
No interactions are documented in our data for the ingredients we checked. That said, always confirm with your own doctor or pharmacist before adding any new supplement to your routine, particularly if you take multiple medications or have ongoing health conditions.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.
This supplement makes sense if you have a diagnosed biotin deficiency and your doctor has recommended supplementation. If you're taking it for hair, skin, or nails without a deficiency diagnosis, the evidence of benefit is weak or absent.
Before you start, especially because of the high dose, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for you and any other supplements or medications you're using.
