Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product has one active ingredient: caralluma fimbriata, a plant extract traditionally used to support appetite and weight management. The capsule itself is made of vegetable cellulose, an inactive ingredient used to hold and deliver the active ingredient.

Not established
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not established

The graded evidence we hold for these ingredients covers different conditions than the ones this product is marketed for, so there's no established rating for its stated use — see Caralluma's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: appetite suppression and weight management.
  • We looked for evidence on: Obesity, overweight, appetite control, metabolic health.
  • The closest evidence on file: Caralluma is rated "Possibly Ineffective" for Obesity (Natural Medicines).

The evidence for caralluma fimbriata's effectiveness is mixed and limited. For obesity, the research suggests it's possibly ineffective.

For generalized anxiety disorder and Prader-Willi syndrome, we don't have enough reliable evidence to say whether it works or not. If you're considering this product for any of those reasons, talk it over with your doctor first — they can help you weigh what little evidence exists against other options.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Caralluma fimbriata is generally well tolerated in short-term studies, though long-term safety hasn't been established. In clinical trials, some people reported gastrointestinal side effects — abdominal bloating, constipation, gas, and stomach irritation — during the first two weeks, though these usually subsided and also showed up in people taking placebo.

One person with high blood pressure saw a temporary rise in blood pressure while taking the extract, but it returned to normal and didn't come back. During pregnancy, there isn't enough safety information, so the data advises against it.

The same goes for breastfeeding — there's no reliable safety data. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether this product is right for you if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.

No known interactions
Known Interaction Concern · database check
No known interactions

No medication interactions are currently documented for the matched ingredients — that isn't a guarantee none exist.

Why this rating?
  • None of the 1 matched ingredient has a documented medication interaction on file.

No interactions are documented in our data for caralluma fimbriata. Even so, check your exact medications with your doctor or pharmacist before starting, since the absence of documented interactions isn't a guarantee none could occur.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.

Caralluma Fimbriata is a single-ingredient supplement with no documented medication interactions. The evidence for its effectiveness is weak to nonexistent for the conditions it's marketed for, and long-term safety is unknown.

Does Caralluma Fimbriata by ZenVita Formulas interact with any medications?
We do not currently list a known interaction for the mapped ingredients in Caralluma Fimbriata. This does not guarantee none exist, so confirm with your pharmacist.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Caralluma Fimbriata contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Does caralluma fimbriata actually help with weight loss?
Research suggests it's possibly ineffective for obesity. The evidence is weak, so don't count on this ingredient to do the heavy lifting if weight loss is your goal.
What side effects have been reported?
In trials, some people had abdominal bloating, constipation, gas, and stomach irritation, usually in the first two weeks. These effects tended to go away on their own. One person temporarily saw their blood pressure go up, but it came back down.
Is it safe to take long-term?
We don't have good long-term safety data. Short-term use seems generally tolerated, but we can't say whether it's safe if you take it for months or years.
Can I take it while pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. There isn't enough safety information during pregnancy, so it's best avoided. The same applies to breastfeeding — there's no reliable safety data. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about your options.
What is caralluma fimbriata?
It's a plant extract, traditionally used to support appetite and weight management. This product contains only that ingredient plus a vegetable cellulose capsule.
