First and foremost: checking Cassia against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Cassia by Hawaii Pharm
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: Cassia Bark Extract, Dry — a concentrated form of cassia cinnamon, the spice made from the bark of a cinnamon tree. The liquid is made with alcohol, water, and glycerin.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for cassia cinnamon is insufficient to rate for the conditions listed in our data, which include amenorrhea (missing periods), angina (chest pain), common cold, diabetes, diarrhea, and dyslipidemia (high cholesterol). That means reliable studies don't yet establish whether it works for these uses.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Cassia cinnamon in food amounts is generally well tolerated. At supplement doses — especially high or long-term doses — there's concern about liver damage from coumarin.
In clinical trials, doses of 360 mg to 12 grams daily for 3 months did not significantly raise liver enzyme levels, but very high doses of coumarin (50–7,000 mg daily) can cause liver harm that reverses when you stop. A rash was reported in one person taking 1 gram daily for 90 days, and one case of allergic eyelid dermatitis was linked to dietary cinnamon; symptoms cleared within five days of stopping.
One clinical trial reported a low blood sugar seizure (hypoglycemia) in one person taking 1 gram daily, though the causal link is unclear.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take this product, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on antidiabetes drugs (insulin, metformin, glipizide, glyburide, or similar) or any medication known to stress the liver. Cassia may lower blood sugar and add to liver stress at high doses.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Cassia Bark Extract may help with various conditions, but the science doesn't yet confirm effectiveness for the uses we have data on. If you take diabetes or liver-harming medications, or have liver disease, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting — dose adjustments or careful monitoring may be needed.
Food amounts are safer than supplement doses; high or long-term use carries liver risk.

Cassia Bark Extract, Dry
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, cassia cinnamon may have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Cassia cinnamon may lower blood glucose levels, and have additive effects in patients treated with antidiabetic agents. Dose adjustments to diabetes medications might be necessary.
Hepatotoxic Drugs
Theoretically, large doses of cassia cinnamon might cause additive effects when used with hepatotoxic drugs.
There is some concern that ingesting large amounts of cassia cinnamon for an extended duration might cause hepatotoxicity in some people. Cassia cinnamon contains coumarin, which can cause hepatotoxicity in animal models. In humans, very high doses of coumarin from 50-7000 mg/day can result in hepatotoxicity that resolves when coumarin use is discontinued. Lower amounts might also cause liver problems in sensitive people, such as those with liver disease or those taking potentially hepatotoxic agents.
