Bovine colostrum is generally well tolerated in most adults. A small number of trial participants reported mild bloating, nausea, diarrhea, and unsettled stomach at rates similar to those in a whey-based control group.

One person with HIV-related cryptosporidiosis (a parasitic infection) experienced nausea and vomiting. Isolated cases in HIV patients also showed elevated liver function tests and decreased red blood cell levels.
