This product contains one active ingredient: bovine colostrum, a nutrient-rich fluid that comes from cow's milk in the first few days after birth. It's been studied mainly for infectious diarrhea and immune support in specific populations.
The capsule itself is plant-based, and the product includes organic rice concentrate as an inactive ingredient.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Bovine colostrum is possibly effective for diarrhea tied to HIV/AIDS and rotaviral diarrhea, and for reducing respiratory infections after intense exercise. The evidence for these uses is limited but shows promise.
For necrotizing enterocolitis (a serious intestinal condition in newborns), the data suggests it's probably ineffective. For other uses not listed here, we don't have effectiveness data on file.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Bovine colostrum is generally well tolerated by most adults. A small number of trial participants reported mild bloating, nausea, diarrhea, and stomach upset at about the same rate as those taking a whey-based control.
One person with HIV-related cryptosporidiosis (a parasitic infection) experienced nausea and vomiting. Some HIV patients treated for infectious diarrhea showed elevated liver function tests and lower red blood cell counts, though it's unclear whether colostrum caused these or the infection did.
If you have a milk or dairy allergy, avoid this product. There isn't enough reliable safety data during pregnancy, so talk with your doctor before using it if you're pregnant.
Safety during breastfeeding isn't well studied — check with your provider before taking it.
