Hyaluronic Acid Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Hyaluronic Acid against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains a single active ingredient: hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance found in the skin, joints, and eyes. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant — it draws water into tissue — and is used in supplements primarily to support skin moisture and eye comfort.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Hyaluronic acid is possibly effective for dry eye and for venous leg ulcers (slow-healing wounds in the legs caused by poor circulation). For aging skin, hay fever, and sexual dysfunction, the evidence we hold is insufficient to rate whether it works.
The data available doesn't establish benefit strongly enough in those areas to make a clear claim.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Taken orally or applied topically, hyaluronic acid is generally well tolerated. The safety facts note, however, that long-term safety of supplements is not fully studied, and safety information for oral supplements is limited.
The safety data advises against taking oral supplements unless your doctor advises otherwise. When applied to the skin, side effects can include eczema, redness, itching, and rarely wound infection.
Eye drops containing hyaluronic acid have occasionally caused eye pain. Needle-free injection devices have caused serious skin and eye injury in cosmetic use.
Pregnancy and lactation data are not on file for this ingredient — there isn't enough information to know either way. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice if you're pregnant or nursing.

The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.
Hyaluronic acid is possibly effective for dry eye and venous leg ulcers and is generally well tolerated when used as directed. Because long-term safety isn't fully established and oral supplement safety data is limited, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting — especially if you're pregnant, nursing, or managing any medical condition.
No interactions with medications are documented, but always run your full medication list past your own healthcare provider before adding any supplement.
