Description:Aconitum, also commonly known as aconite or Wolfsbane, is a plant species that belongs to the buttercup (Ranunculaceae) family. It is native to Asia and Europe and is known for its blue or purple flowers and poisonous roots. Aconitum has a long history of use in traditional medicine and has been used to treat a wide range of health conditions, including fever, pain, and respiratory problems. It is also used as a sedative and to treat heart problems. However, aconite is extremely poisonous as it contains toxic alkaloids. It can cause serious side effects, including nausea, vomiting, difficulty breathing, and even death. Handling aconite is considered dangerous as well some toxins may be absorbed through the skin. Although some heavily processed preparations of aconite are available, it is most commonly used in homeopathic preparations that are highly diluted.
