What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: L-Methionine, an amino acid your body uses for protein synthesis and other metabolic functions. Each capsule delivers 550 mg.
The capsule itself is made from hypromellose, a plant-based material that holds the ingredient together.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence on L-Methionine is mixed and incomplete. It's rated possibly effective for reducing the risk of neural tube birth defects — a finding that matters if you're planning pregnancy or already pregnant.
For acetaminophen poisoning, hay fever, asthma, colorectal cancer, there isn't enough reliable evidence yet to say whether it works. Most of these uses remain under investigation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
When you get methionine from food, it's well tolerated — your body handles it routinely. High-dose supplements, though, are different: they may cause dizziness, drowsiness, headache, irritability, vomiting, or lower blood pressure (hypotension).
Very high doses can raise homocysteine levels, which is a risk factor for heart and blood vessel problems. Rare serious effects include brain swelling and liver-related brain damage.
For pregnancy, the safety data says it's likely safe, though high-dose supplement use during pregnancy hasn't been formally studied — normal dietary amounts are expected to be fine. For breastfeeding, safety of supplement doses isn't well studied either.
Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether to take this if you're pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding.

The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.
L-Methionine is an amino acid supplement that's well tolerated at food levels but may cause side effects at high doses — especially dizziness, drowsiness, headache, or low blood pressure. The main evidence is for neural tube birth defects in pregnancy; for most other uses, evidence is limited.
If you're pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding, or if you have heart disease, blood vessel disease, or liver problems, discuss this with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.
