Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains a single active ingredient: L-Ornithine, an amino acid your body uses to support protein synthesis and other cellular functions. There are no inactive ingredients or fillers in this powder—it's just the amino acid itself.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
L-Ornithine is possibly effective for athletic performance. For dry skin, insomnia, and periodontitis (gum inflammation), the evidence we have isn't strong enough to rate how well it works.
If you're considering it for one of those other uses, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about what the science actually supports.
How safe is it?
Some data gaps
L-Ornithine is generally well tolerated in the short term, but we don't have much data on long-term use, so extended treatment should be discussed with your healthcare provider. The safety data advises against use during pregnancy and while breastfeeding because there isn't enough information to know whether it's safe in those situations.
If you're pregnant, nursing, or planning to be, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this supplement.
Meds to double-check
No known interactions
No interactions are documented in our data for L-Ornithine. This doesn't mean interactions can't happen—it means we don't have information showing they do.
If you take prescription medications regularly, it's still worth confirming with your own doctor or pharmacist that this supplement won't interfere with your treatment plan.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. No medication interactions are currently documented, and some safety-information gaps remain.
If you're an athlete exploring options to support performance, this amino acid may be worth a try. If you're thinking about it for dry skin, insomnia, or gum health, the evidence is thin.
Long-term safety hasn't been well studied, so check in with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it regularly or combining it with other supplements.
