Vitamin D3
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that plays a crucial role in several bodily processes. It helps the body absorb calcium and phosphorus, which are necessary for healthy bones and teeth. It is also important for immune system function and may help to protect against certain diseases. Vitamin D is found in a variety of foods, including fatty fish, egg yolks, and fortified foods such as milk and cereal. It is also produced by the body when the skin is exposed to sunlight. Vitamin D supplements are available in a variety of forms, including tablets, capsules, and liquids. The recommended daily intake of vitamin D varies depending on age, sex, and other factors, and it is important to follow the dosage recommendations provided by a healthcare professional. There are several different forms of vitamin D available, with the two most popular being ergocalciferol (vitamin D2) and cholecalciferol (vitamin D3).

- Vitamin D enhances the uptake of calcium from the diet, is necessary for bone and dental health, regulates immune activity and supports healthy cell division. Recent research indicates that Vitamin D also may play an important role in supporting cardiovascular health.
- Made in the U.S.A.
- Cautions and Interactions
The current upper limit for vitamin D is 2000 IU daily, though recent safety reviews have suggested a five-fold increase is warranted.
- Vitamin D is normally produced in the skin as a result of exposure to uv light from the sun. However, the use of sunscreens, aging, avoidance of sun exposure, and living in the Northern latitudes can significantly reduce vitamin D production by the body. Vitamin D can also be obtained through the diet and some sources include fatty fish, egg yolks, and fortified dairy products.
The major biologic function of vitamin D is to maintain normal blood levels of calcium and phosphorus. By promoting calcium absorption, vitamin D helps to form and maintain strong bones. Vitamin D also works in concert with a number of other vitamins, minerals, and hormones to promote bone mineralization. In addition, Vitamin D plays an important role in immune function, and helps to regulate cell growth and differentiation.
