Hoodia
Description:Hoodia is a cactus-type plant native to the Kalahari Desert in Africa. Medicinally, it is used as an appetite suppressant to aid in weight loss. Dietary supplements containing hoodia are often standardized for their P57 content, a component of hoodia extract, which is thought to be primarily responsible for its effects. Hoodia is also though to contain additional constituents, such as gordonoside F, which may also have an appetite-suppressant effect.

Green Tea extract
Description:Green tea is a type of tea that is made from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. It is native to Asia and is widely consumed throughout the world. Green tea has a mild, slightly grassy flavor and is typically lighter in color and less astringent than black tea. Green tea is a rich source of antioxidants, particularly a group of compounds called catechins. These antioxidants are thought to help protect cells from damage caused by free radicals. Green tea is also a good source of other nutrients, including vitamin C and several B vitamins. Green tea is often consumed for a number of purported health benefits including reducing the risk of heart disease, immune-stimulating effects, and weight loss. Oral green tea supplements, containing dried powder, are most often utilized for the caffeine content and used as an appetite suppressant for weight loss.

Yohimbe
Description:Yohimbe is an evergreen tree native to western Africa. The bark of the tree contains a chemical called yohimbine in concentrations ranging from 0.6-1.38%, which has been used in traditional medicine as a natural aphrodisiac and sexual performance enhancer. While widely available as a dietary supplement, yohimbe should be used with caution, as it can have side effects, such as dizziness, increased blood pressure and rapid heart rate.

Ephedra extract
Description:Ephedra, also known as ma huang, is a plant species in the family Ephedraceae, which is native to Asia and parts of North America. It has been used traditionally in herbal medicine for centuries to treat a variety of conditions, including respiratory problems, allergies, and obesity. Ephedra contains a number of active compounds, including ephedrine and pseudoephedrine, which are stimulants that affect the central nervous system. The stimulant compounds in ephedra compounds have been used in a number of over-the-counter and prescription medications, including decongestants and weight loss supplements. While ephedra and related stimulant compounds are still available in a number of over-the-counter medications, such as the inhaler Primatene Mist, and Bronkaid Caplets, it is banned for use in dietary supplements. Ephedra was once an extremely popular ingredient in dietary supplements for weight loss, but it was linked to a number of serious adverse effects, including increased blood pressure, heart palpitations, stroke, and even death. As a result, the use of ephedra and ephedra-containing products were banned or restricted in many countries.

Citrus aurantium
Description:Bitter orange, also known as Seville orange or sour orange, is a type of citrus fruit that is native to Southeast Asia. It is closely related to the sweet orange, but has a much more bitter and sour flavor. Bitter orange is a rich source of vitamin C and other nutrients, including calcium, potassium, and folate. It is also a good source of antioxidants. Bitter orange has been used in traditional medicine for a number of purported health benefits, including improved digestion, improved immune function, and reduced inflammation. Bitter orange also contains synephrine, a compound similar in structure to ephedrine. Synephrine is thought to have stimulant effects and is often used to increase energy, improve athletic performance, and as a weight loss supplement. When used as a dietary supplement, the dosage is typically standardized by its synephrine content.

Chromium
Description:Chromium is a trace mineral that is found in small amounts in the human body. It is believed to play a role in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. It is used as a dietary supplement for its purported ability to help with weight loss and blood sugar control. There is some evidence to suggest that chromium supplements may help to improve blood sugar control in people with type 2 diabetes, although the results of studies on this topic have been mixed. Some studies have found that chromium supplements can improve insulin sensitivity and reduce blood sugar levels in those with poorly controlled diabetes, while others have found no significant effects.
