Formula
- Saw Palmetto Saw Palmetto contains certain phytosterols, substances that curb prostate cell growth. Its action in the body is similar to that of finasteride and other drugs. An extract of a low-growing berry, it helps increase testosterone level. It has been used for centuries by American Indians who considered it a mild aphrodisiac.
- Folic Acid In addition to supporting prostate health, experiments show that folic acid plays an essential role in protection the brain against ravages of Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. Subjects given an adequate amount of folic acid were able to repair damage to the DNA in their nerve cells. In the subjects given a folic acid deficient diet, nerve cells were unable to repair this DNA damage.
- Zinc zinc is one of the most important trace elements contributing to prostate health. Most zinc in our daily diet is lost in processing and cooking. A presence of zinc has been shown to resist a hormonal action that can cause swelling of the prostate. Studies confirm that this mineral is absolutely vital for a healthy prostate.
- Vitamin A Vitamin A plays a vital role in the functioning of the growth and maturation of the cells lining the inner and outer surfaces of the body, growth of bone, reproduction and embryonic development. Vitamin A also functions with certain carotenoids to protect against the development of certain cancers, including prostate cancer, and to enhance
- Vitamin E Vitamin E (d-alpha tocopherol) is one of nature's most potent antioxidants. It helps reduce tumor growth and is a vital supplement in maintaining good cardio-vascular health. It helps the body's immune system fight off disease, as well as protect against cancers, like prostate cancer.
- Pygeum africanum Pygeum africanum (Prunus atioana) is derived from the bark of a South African evergreen tree and is commonly used for prostate problems in Africa as well as in Europe. Pygeum contains several chemical compounds that have a healing effect on the inflammation and swelling of the prostate. It has been found to block the entry of cholesterol into the prostate. (Within the prostate, cholesterol is a precursor to testosterone and other hormones.) Pygeum can reduce existing inflammation as well as prevent inflammation from starting. Pygeum enhances an anti-inflammatory effect for prostatitis and a hormonal effect for BPH.
- Bee Pollen Bee Pollen is a gift of health from the honeybee. It is a highly concentrated food source that contains such compounds as protein, iron, zinc, manganese, potassium, B vitamins, carotene, lecithin, vitamins A, C, D, and E, and selenium. It also contains the bioflavonoid rutin, important for capillary strength. It has been beneficial in cholesterol reduction, weight loss, as an antioxidant and for athletic stamina. And it has a positive effect on healing BPH (prostate enlargement).
- Garlic Studies show that garlic (Allium sativum) helps reduce serum cholesterol and is an anti-carcinogen. In addition to inhibiting certain cancers it also strengthens the immune system. Garlic has been used since the days of the Egyptians to treat woulds and infections.
