Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product is pure vitamin B7, also called biotin, in powder form. That's it—no fillers, binders, or other inactive ingredients on file.

Biotin is a B vitamin your body needs to convert food into energy and to keep your skin, hair, and nails healthy.

Does it work?

Strong evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed

This product doesn't appear to be marketed for a specific use, so we graded Biotin's overall clinical evidence instead.

Strong

Strong clinical evidence supports Biotin for:

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.
  • Since the label doesn't commit to one use, we graded the ingredient's overall clinical evidence instead.
  • On file: Biotin deficiency — rated "Likely Effective" (Natural Medicines).

Biotin is likely effective for treating biotin deficiency—a real shortage of this vitamin in your body. For other uses like hair loss (alopecia areata), seborrheic dermatitis (a scaly, itchy skin condition), and multiple sclerosis, the evidence isn't solid enough to know whether it works; one rating calls it possibly ineffective for seborrheic dermatitis and MS, while hair loss is rated as having insufficient reliable evidence to say either way.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Biotin is generally well tolerated, even at fairly high doses, because your body clears the excess through urine. High-dose biotin has rarely caused mild diarrhea in some people; one study reported transient mild diarrhea in two patients taking 300 mg daily.

There's one rare case report of a woman on high-dose biotin who developed a heart and lung inflammation, but it's unclear whether biotin, another supplement she was taking, her other medications, or her individual health played a role—no similar cases have been reported since. The safety notes advise checking with your doctor before taking high-dose supplements; normal dietary amounts and typical supplement doses are considered appropriate.

No known interactions

No medication interactions are currently documented for the matched ingredients — that isn't a guarantee none exist.

Why this rating?
  • None of the 1 matched ingredient has a documented medication interaction on file.

No interactions are documented in our data for the biotin in this product with any medications. That doesn't guarantee interactions don't exist elsewhere; if you take prescription drugs, confirm with your own doctor or pharmacist before starting.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with strong clinical evidence behind its ingredients' uses. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.

If you have a confirmed biotin deficiency, this product is likely to help. For other uses, the evidence doesn't support it.

High-dose biotin is generally well tolerated, but run it by your doctor first if you're planning to take supplements above typical dietary amounts. If you take any medications, check them against this product on the interaction tool below, or confirm with your own pharmacist or doctor.
