Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: raspberry ketone at 500 mg per capsule. Raspberry ketone is a natural compound found in red raspberries; it's used in supplements for possible effects on weight and hair loss, though the evidence for those uses isn't well established.

The capsule itself is made from hypromellose, an inactive ingredient that holds the ketone in place.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Raspberry Ketone product and its label doesn't state a use — see Raspberry Ketone's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence for raspberry ketone isn't established in the data we hold. Studies have looked at whether it works for obesity and alopecia areata (a type of hair loss), but the current data rates both uses as having insufficient reliable evidence to say it works.

This doesn't mean it doesn't work—it means we don't have strong human studies backing either claim yet.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Raspberry ketone is used safely in foods, but safety data for the high doses in supplements is very limited in humans. Case reports describe heart palpitations, rapid heartbeat, elevated blood pressure, and in one rare case, a serious heart rhythm problem after people took raspberry ketone.

Other reported side effects include sweating, diarrhea, and shakiness, though these aren't well studied. The safety data advises against use during pregnancy and breastfeeding because there isn't enough information to know either way.

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Raspberry Ketone.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 174 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product if you use stimulant drugs (including decongestants, ADHD medications, or any other stimulants)—raspberry ketone may raise your risk of heart palpitations and high blood pressure. Also flag it if you take warfarin or other blood thinners, as this product may change how well they work and require a dose adjustment.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

Raspberry ketone may be worth considering if you're curious about its potential effects on weight or hair loss, but the evidence for either use is unclear. It's not a good fit if you take stimulant drugs or blood thinners like warfarin, because it may interfere with how they work and increase your risk of heart-related problems.

Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting it, especially if you take any prescription medications or have a heart condition.

Stimulant Drugs

Theoretically, raspberry ketone might increase the risk of adverse cardiovascular effects with stimulant drugs.
Structurally, raspberry ketone resembles synephrine, a known stimulant agent. Heart palpitations, elevated blood pressure, coronary vasospasm, pulseless electrical activity arrest, and resistant polymorphic ventricular tachycardia have been reported in patients taking raspberry ketone.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Warfarin (Coumadin)

Theoretically, raspberry ketone might increase warfarin dose requirements.
In one case report, a patient taking warfarin 55 mg per week had a decrease in INR over a period of one month while taking raspberry ketone 250 mg daily. A warfarin dose increase to 70 mg per week was necessary to maintain a therapeutic INR while taking raspberry ketone. The mechanism for this potential interaction is not known.

Raspberry Ketones (500 mg) by BulkSupplements.com: Common Questions

Does Raspberry Ketones (500 mg) by BulkSupplements.com interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Raspberry Ketones (500 mg) has a known interaction with 174 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Raspberry Ketones (500 mg) contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Does raspberry ketone actually help you lose weight?
The evidence isn't strong enough to say. Studies have looked at it for obesity, but the data we have rates it as having insufficient reliable evidence. That means we don't have solid human studies showing it works yet.
Can I take this if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
No—the safety data advises against it during both pregnancy and breastfeeding because there isn't enough information to know if it's safe. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about what's right for you during this time.
What are the side effects I should watch for?
The main ones reported in case studies are heart palpitations, rapid heartbeat, elevated blood pressure, sweating, diarrhea, and shakiness. These aren't common in well-controlled studies, but they have been reported. Stop taking it and call your doctor if you feel chest pain or a racing heartbeat.
Why does raspberry ketone interact with warfarin?
One case report showed that raspberry ketone may lower warfarin's blood-thinning effect, which means the dose had to be increased to keep it working properly. If you take warfarin, your INR will need to be monitored if you start or stop this product.
What is hypromellose in the capsule?
It's an inactive ingredient that forms the capsule shell to hold the raspberry ketone. It's not an active ingredient and doesn't have a therapeutic effect.
How much raspberry ketone is in each capsule?
Each capsule contains 500 mg of raspberry ketone.
