Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: raspberry ketone, a naturally occurring compound structurally similar to synephrine, a stimulant agent. The capsule also holds inactive ingredients (gelatin, titanium dioxide, rice flour, and magnesium stearate) that serve as the capsule shell and processing aids.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Raspberry Ketone product and its label doesn't state a use — see Raspberry Ketone's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence for raspberry ketone is not established. Our data shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate it for alopecia areata (hair loss condition) or obesity.

If you're considering this supplement for either of those reasons, talk with your doctor about what the current science actually supports.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Raspberry ketone is used in foods at low levels and is generally well tolerated in that context, but safety data for the high doses in supplements is very limited. Case reports describe heart palpitations, rapid heartbeat, elevated blood pressure, and in rare cases serious heart rhythm problems — including one case of cardiac arrest — after taking raspberry ketone.

A small number of users reported sweating, diarrhea, and shakiness. Because of the stimulant-like effects and limited human safety data, the facts advise against use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

If you're pregnant, nursing, or planning to become pregnant, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product.

Stimulant Drugs

Theoretically, raspberry ketone might increase the risk of adverse cardiovascular effects with stimulant drugs.
Structurally, raspberry ketone resembles synephrine, a known stimulant agent. Heart palpitations, elevated blood pressure, coronary vasospasm, pulseless electrical activity arrest, and resistant polymorphic ventricular tachycardia have been reported in patients taking raspberry ketone.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Warfarin (Coumadin)

Theoretically, raspberry ketone might increase warfarin dose requirements.
In one case report, a patient taking warfarin 55 mg per week had a decrease in INR over a period of one month while taking raspberry ketone 250 mg daily. A warfarin dose increase to 70 mg per week was necessary to maintain a therapeutic INR while taking raspberry ketone. The mechanism for this potential interaction is not known.

Raspberry Ketones by Applied Nutriceuticals: Common Questions

Does Raspberry Ketones by Applied Nutriceuticals interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Raspberry Ketones has a known interaction with 174 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Raspberry Ketones contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take this with my ADHD medication or decongestant?
Raspberry ketone may increase the risk of heart problems when combined with stimulant drugs. Check with your doctor or pharmacist about your specific medication before taking this product.
Can I take this if I'm on warfarin (Coumadin)?
Raspberry ketone may interfere with how warfarin works, requiring a higher dose to keep your blood thinner at the right level. You'll need to talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting — they may need to monitor your blood-clotting levels more closely.
Will this help me lose weight?
The evidence isn't there yet. Our data shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate raspberry ketone for obesity, so we can't say whether it actually works for weight loss.
Is this safe to take long-term?
Safety data for high-dose raspberry ketone supplements is very limited. Case reports describe heart palpitations, elevated blood pressure, and even serious arrhythmias — so this isn't a product to take without talking it over with your doctor first.
Can I take this while pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. There isn't enough safety information, and the facts advise against concentrated supplements during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you're pregnant, nursing, or planning to become pregnant.
