- Lamivudine treats HIV-1 infection when combined with other HIV medicines. A separate lower-dose tablet treats chronic hepatitis B. Make sure you have the version your doctor prescr...
- For HIV-1 it is taken by mouth once or twice daily, with or without food. Follow your prescriber's schedule exactly. Children's doses depend on weight.
- Common ones are headache, nausea, tiredness, stuffy nose, diarrhea and cough. Call your doctor if you notice signs of liver problems, pancreatitis, or an allergic reaction.
- Please don't stop on your own. If you also have hepatitis B, stopping can cause a serious flare-up, and your liver needs close monitoring afterward. Talk to your doctor first.
