Key points

  • Tylenol and Mucinex are safe to take together. There is no known interaction between them.

Thanks for your question!

Yes, it is safe to take Tylenol (acetaminophen) and Mucinex (guaifenesin) together. There is no drug interaction between them.

In fact, there are a number of products on the market that contain both.

These products include:

  • DayQuil Severe
  • Mucinex Fast-Max Cold and Flu
  • Theraflu ExpressMax Severe Cold and Flu
  • Tylenol Cold + Mucus Severe

Ideally, you should take a product that only contains the drugs you need to help with your symptoms (i.e. if you only need Tylenol and Mucinex, you shouldn't take something like DayQuil Severe, which contains additional ingredients).

So, if you are having symptoms of excess mucus/chest congestion and minor aches and pains, try to stick with just the two drugs in question here (guaifenesin and acetaminophen).

As far as I am aware, there isn't a product on the market that contains only acetaminophen and guaifenesin, so, to only take those two drugs, you will need to buy them separately.

Thanks again for your question!
