Interaction Details
Losartan Potassium is classified as belonging to the following category: Antihypertensive Drugs
Each serving of HumanN SuperBeets includes 500mg of beetroot powder (2 chews). Beetroot is rich in nitrates, which have the potential to widen blood vessels (vasodilation) and, in turn, possibly lower blood pressure. While there is a theoretical concern about the nitrate content in beets causing a blood pressure drop, research consistently indicates that any impact is generally minor and short-lived. However, it's crucial to be aware that blood pressure medications alone can cause dizziness and lightheadedness. Combining them with beet supplements might heighten the risk of experiencing these side effects due to the temporary vasodilation caused by the nitrates in beet.

Likelihood of Occurrence
PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists
Pharmacist Analysis
As stated in the interaction detail section above, the blood pressure-lowering effects of the nitrates found in beet supplements tend to only be temporary.
However, I would still counsel individuals who are taking blood pressure medications to be cautious if they are considering taking a beet supplement.
Blood pressure medications can cause individuals to feel lightheaded and dizzy. These effects could be more pronounced when combined with a beet supplement, which could increase the risk of falls.

Interaction Details
Losartan Potassium is classified as belonging to the following category: Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Each serving of HumanN SuperBeets includes 150mg of grape seed extract (2 chews). Laboratory studies suggest that grape seed extract might have inhibitory effects on the CYP3A4 metabolizing enzyme. If this enzyme is inhibited, drugs metabolized by it may undergo slower metabolism, potentially leading to (in many cases) higher-than-normal drug levels. Elevated drug levels can increase the risk of experiencing side effects. However, it's important to point out that there is no documented or reported instance of this specific interaction occurring in human studies.

Likelihood of Occurrence
UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.
Pharmacist Analysis
It is unlikely that grape seed extracts have a clinically significant interaction with drugs that are metabolized by CYP3A4. This effect has only been seen in lab studies and has not been seen in human ones.
Nevertheless, it may be worthwhile to know if the drug you are taking (such as the one in this interaction detail page) is metabolized by CYP3A4 and monitor yourself accordingly.

Humann Superbeets Heart Chews Overview

Losartan Potassium Overview
-
Losartan is used alone or in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure. Losartan is also used to decrease the risk of stroke in people who have high blood pressure and a heart condition called left ventricular hypertrophy (enlargement of the walls of the left side of the heart). Losartan may not decrease the risk of stroke in African Americans who have these conditions. This medication is also used to treat kidney disease in people who have type 2 diabetes (condition in which the body does not use insulin normally and therefore cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood) and high blood pressure. Losartan is in a class of medications called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. It works by blocking the action of certain natural substances that tighten the blood vessels, allowing the blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently.
-
High blood pressure is a common condition, and when not treated it can cause damage to the brain, heart, blood vessels, kidneys, and other parts of the body. Damage to these organs may cause heart disease, a heart attack, heart failure, stroke, kidney failure, loss of vision, and other problems. In addition to taking medication, making lifestyle changes will also help to control your blood pressure. These changes include eating a diet that is low in fat and salt, maintaining a healthy weight, exercising at least 30 minutes most days, not smoking, and using alcohol in moderation.
