A case report describes a 70-year-old male with a large, chronic left temporal wound from invasive cancer who developed bacteremia due to Wohlfahrtiimonas chitiniclastica after maggot therapy. The infection was treated successfully with levofloxacin.”

Maggot therapy (also called maggot debridement therapy or larval therapy) is a medical treatment in which sterile, medical-grade fly larvae are placed on a wound to remove dead tissue and help cleaning. It is a prescription, clinician-applied therapy — not a dietary supplement or herb — and should only be done under professional supervision. It can be useful for certain hard-to-heal wounds, but it is not a do-it-yourself treatment.

Maggot Therapy: dosing

There is no 'dose' in the way there is for a supplement. The number of larvae used depends on the size and type of the wound, and this is determined by the clinician applying the treatment.Typically, larvae are left on the wound for around a couple of days before being removed, and the treatment may be repeated over several cycles if needed. The exact schedule is decided case by case.Because this is a clinician-applied medical procedure, you should follow the instructions of your wound-care team and never apply maggots yourself.

What Is Ziv-aflibercept Injection Used For?

Brand name: Zaltrap

Zaltrap (ziv-aflibercept) injection is used to treat metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) — colorectal cancer that has spread to other parts of the body and has stopped responding to, or has gotten worse on, an oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy regimen.

Zaltrap is always given in combination with a chemotherapy regimen called FOLFIRI (fluorouracil, leucovorin, and irinotecan). It is not used alone.
